NDT Project Solutions Wins FSS Contract with Navantia UK
NDT Project Solutions is delighted to announce it has been successful in winning a contract with Navantia UK for the Fleet Solid Support programme that will provide three ships to the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.
NDT has been awarded a contract to provide the design, manufacture and supply of the Exhaust Intakes and Emergency Diesel Generators of all three ship sets, which will be delivered on a year-on-year supply starting in 2025. The exhaust intake systems and diesel generators will be designed and manufactured in the UK at NDT’s North East headquarters in Darlington.
The Fleet Solid Support Ship programme is being delivered by Team Resolute (Harland & Wolff, Navantia and BM, with Navantia UK as prime contractor). The ships are designed by BMT and ship modules will be built by H&W shipyards in Belfast and Appledore in the UK and Navantia in Cadiz, Spain, with all modules being delivered to Belfast for assembly, integration and completion.
The ships will be the Royal Fleet Auxiliary’s modern solid stores replenishment ships, an essential supporting element to the delivery of the Maritime Carrier Strike Group able to deliver crucial munitions, supplies and provisions to the
Royal Navy while at sea. They will provide logistical and operational support, including counter-piracy and counter-terrorism missions and will collaborate with allies on operations.
Paul Miller, Managing Director of NDT UK, said: “I am delighted to announce that NDT has been successful in its tender with Navantia UK.
“This contract is a significant milestone for our company and will underpin our UK workforce in the coming years.
“I am also proud that this contract win will inject significant investment into the North East economy, benefitting not only our team but our wider supply chain partners.”
NDT UK holds ISO Certifications for 9001, 14001 and 45001 and is fully CONDO (Contractor on Deployed Operations) trained allowing the team to deliver vital work packages to Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels while working overseas in operational theatres.
The production of the first FSS ship is expected to begin in 2025 across all three shipyards and with all three ships entering service after final equipment fits and military trials, by 2032.
